GENERAL INFORMATION

Eligibility is limited to applicants with cystic fibrosis who are members of CFA at the time of the submission of an application and have been a member for at least one year prior to application.

CFA will consider an application for grants to fund expenses of tuition, books, room, board, and fees of an undergraduate or post-secondary vocational education of an eligible applicant.

All applicants must secure and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which must be completed and forwarded to the appropriate screening center for processing and evaluation.

If eligible for financial aid, an applicant must apply for any federal, state and private financial aid, other than student loans or work-study programs first.

The Association will consider awarding grants to supplement educational expenses not otherwise covered.
  • Grants shall not exceed the average cost of attending a North Dakota state-sponsored school of higher education.
  • In the event an applicant plans to attend an out-of-state school, Association scholarship grants shall not exceed the cost of a similar in-state program

A grant will be paid directly to the school by CFA upon receipt of an approved voucher or invoice from the school.

Receipt of a grant or grants by a particular applicant does not ensure or guarantee that further/future grants will be awarded.
Graduate Study Programs

An individual applicant must be a member of the Association at the time of submission of an application, and be in possession of an appropriate undergraduate degree.

Assistance available under this program shall be in the form of loans to pay all or part of tuition, books and related fees. Loans shall not be available for room and board or other related expenses. All loans granted under this program will be repaid in no more than eighty-four (84) equal monthly installments, commencing one year from the date of completion of degree requirements, or withdrawal from the program, whichever first occurs.
